Children's Education In Koran Luqman Letter Verses 12-18

TIMES OF ISLAM, TANJUNG ENIM - Children's education is very important to always be studied. Children as the nation's successors are also the successors of religion who must always be equipped with knowledge that can become the basis for later adulthood.
Children must be guided wisely without having to patronize, but full of love like friends who discuss each other.

As we know in the letter of Luqman, there are many advices that he gave to him to be a good servant of kindness and faith in the Divine.

Well, education is not only by going to school in prestigious schools but also with adab and faith to be equipped in the hereafter to be able to be filial, pious children and salihah parents. God's Word:

And indeed We have given wisdom to Luqman, Namely: "Thank God. and whoever gives thanks (to Allah), then he is grateful for himself; and whoever is not grateful, Allah will be rich, praiseworthy. " (QS. Luqman: 12)

Luqman is known as a man of wisdom and is very concerned about his children's education. He always advises his child with advice so that his child is on a straight path. Luqman taught about faith and also morality.

Advice given by Luqman in the Koran, among others:

1. Don't associate with God

And (remember) when Luqman said to his son, at the time he gave a lesson to him: "My child, do not associate with Allah, Surely associating (Allah) is truly a great tyranny." (Surah Luqman: 13).

As we know someone's first milestone is faith. Therefore a child is first given the knowledge of faith, so that he always draws near to the Divine.

2. Devotion to Parents (Father and Mother)

And We command the people (to do good) to their two mothers. his mother had conceived in a weakened state of increase, and weaned him in two years [1]. Be thankful to me and to the two mothers of your father, only to Me, your return. (Surah Luqman: 14).

Luqman advised his son that a child is always willing to do good to his parents. Why? Because parents, especially mothers, have been pregnant for nine months. Mothers feel pain and bet their lives to give birth to children into the world. And a father always slams to pay for his life. So that parents are someone who is meritorious and must be respected.

3. Do Good to Parents

And if both of them compel you to associate with me something that you do not know about, then do not follow both, and associate both in the world well, and follow the path of those who return to Me, then only unto Me return, Then I tell you what you have done. (QS. Luqman: 15)

The purpose of this verse is actually the continuation of the previous verse which states the suggestion to obey the two parents, but if the command given by parents is vanity. Then do not follow that order. Do not associate partners with God.

But on the other side. A child still has to respect both parents even though they are not in line with him. Because after all they are raising and giving birth.

4. Every Action Will Get a Reply

(Luqman said): "My child, indeed if there is (something deed) as heavy as mustard seeds, and is in stone or in the sky or in the earth, surely Allah will bring it (to repay it). Surely Allah is subtle [2] again knowing. (QS. Luqman: 16)

This verse contains advice, to always do good things, avoid bad things. Because any action (good or bad) even though small will get a reply. Because God is omniscient and most just. So someone must be vigilant in doing something.

5. Establishing Prayers, Understanding Nahi Mungkar and Sabar

Hi my child, establish prayer and ask (manusia) do good and prevent (them) from doing wrong and be patient with what befalls you. Indeed, this is including the things that are required (by Allah). (QS. Luqman: 17)

Luqman advised his son to always pray. Also always invites the good to prevent things from happening. And always be patient with the trials God gives.

6. Don't be arrogant

And do not turn your face away from humans (because they are arrogant) and do not walk proudly on the earth. Surely Allah does not like those who are proud and pride themselves. (QS. Luqman: 18)

Luqman warned his son that his son should stay away from soombong sifa, because God hates arrogant servants.

How Luqman Hakim cares about children's education. This advice should be taught to other children to have a good attitude towards God, parents and others.

[1] That means: At the latest the weaning time is after the child is two years old.
[2] What is meant by Allah is subtle is the knowledge of Allah which covers everything how small.
